Travelling to Farasan, April 2019

A jewel in the Red Sea, 50km from the south west of Jizan, Saudi Arabia, lies the Farasan Islands. Turquoise waters and silver silver sands are among the interesting Ottoman inspired architecture, influenced by the Moroccan and Turkish fisherman who once visited. We travelled to the region to meet artisans working with palm and sea shells, whilst exploring the potential for craft development and heritage preservation on behalf of Turquoise Mountain.
